Who we serveThe King County Veterans' Program provides services to eligible applicants who are veterans, current service members, National Guard members, Reserve members, and the families of these military personnel. You must live in King County to be eligible for services. Veterans"Veteran" is defined as any person who meets the following service and discharge criteria (at the time of application). Service Criteria - Served in any branch of the armed forces of the United States, including the National Guard, the Coast Guard, and the Armed Forces Reserve; OR
- Fulfilled the initial military service obligation for National Guard and Reserve, or was called into federal service for at least 181 days
Discharge Criteria - Received one of the following characters of discharge:
- Honorable
- Medical
- General
- Under Honorable Conditions (UHC)
National Guard and Reserves"National Guard member" or "Reserve member" is defined as any person who meets the following criteria (at the time of application): - Completed initial commitment of service in the National Guard or Reserves; OR
- Is in the process of activation for duty; OR
- Is activated for duty; OR
- Is returning from duty.
Dependents of Military Personnel"Dependent" eligibility depends on the client's circumstances and the specific documentation provided by the client. Please call or visit the King County Veterans' Program to inquire about dependent eligibility for services.
