Services and Programs

Our programs help both adults and youth achieve success in education and work. We do this through education, job training and job placement. Many of our services are federally funded and have specific eligibility criteria. Please contact us to see if you qualify.

Adult Services and Programs

  • Dislocated Worker Program - Federally funded program that helps people laid off from work smoothly transition to living-wage employment.
  • King County Jobs Initiative - Helps people involved in the criminal justice system get training and employment leading to living wage careers.
  • WorkSource Renton - One-stop employment center that connects people with jobs and training.

Youth Services and Programs

Out of School Programs

  • Community College Based Learning Centers - Provides hands-on learning through high school credit recovery, school re-entry, high school completion or a GED option. The goal of these services is to improve student achievement in key foundation competencies and to help students gain skills for success in both education and work.
    • Learning Center North - Provides GED instruction for youth ages 16 to 21 who have dropped out of school, and prepares program participants for success in community college and jobs. This program is located at Shoreline Community College.
  • YouthSource - One-stop center at WorkSource Renton for youth age 16 to 21 who have dropped out of school. Provides education towards a GED or high school diploma, exploration of career options, and connections to community and technical colleges and jobs. YouthSource offers the following programs:

    • Digital Bridge Academy - Provides classes in technology for youth ages 16 to 21 who have dropped out of school. Training involves both hardware and software.
    • Opportunity Skyway - Combines high school diploma or GED education with hands-on learning in aviation, manufacturing, and career exploration during the summer. Students divide their time in the classroom and the airplane building shop.
    • YouthBuild - Provides pre-apprenticeship training and exploration in the construction trades and GED preparation for youth ages 16 to 21 who have dropped out of school. Partners include South Seattle Community College, Renton Technical College, Habitat for Humanity, Central Area Motivation Program and WorkSource Renton.

School to Work Program

  • School to Work Program - Assists young adults with developmental disabilities to make a smooth transition from school to work. This program is a partnership with King County Developmental Disabilities Division and is available in partnership with school districts.

Stay in School Program

  • Stay in School Program - Provides young people ages 16 to 18 who are at risk of not graduating from high school with extra support so they can be successful in school and work. Services are offered at eight high schools in King County. The King County Work Training program provides staffing at one of these sites, the New Start program (described below).
    • New Start - Alternative School in White Center/Burien (Highline School District) helps young people ages 16 to 18 at risk of not graduating from high school complete their high school education. In partnership with King County Superior Court, New Start assists program participants to explore careers and find jobs.
