The Public

The Housing and Community Development Program (HCD) serves very low to moderate-income residents of King County primarily by awarding funds to entities such as non-profit community agencies, housing authorities, and cities who serve the public directly. We have two programs that the public can access directly:

Housing Repair Services - Very low to moderate-income homeowners can apply directly to us for Housing Repair Services. Eligible households must reside in King County, outside the City of Seattle. Mobile home owners are eligible for assistance. We provide very low-cost loans and grants to eligible households for needed repairs to their home. Eligible households must reside in the home that they want to repair.

Home Accessibility Service - Very low to moderate-income households with disabilities who are renters can apply directly to us for this service. The Home Accessibility Modification Service provides assistance to make physical modifications to one's housing that are necessary for a disabled person to be able to use their home. Eligible households must reside in King County, outside Seattle, and must reside in the home that they want to modify. Tenants must notify their landlord and get permission from the landlord before the work can be done to the rental unit.
