No, the rental repair/rehabilitation service does not provide grants or free money; the service provides loans. However, the loan is at zero percent interest and has deferred payments, which means that the loan does not have to be paid back unless you violate the loan agreement, sell the property or refinance the property. Can I borrow money to purchase a rental property and rehabilitate it? No, rental repair/rehabilitation funds can only be used to rehabilitate a property that you already own. The funds cannot be used to acquire a new property.
