Homeless Programs
The Housing and Community Development Program (HCD) primarily serves people who are homeless through the Homeless Housing Program (HHP). The HHP funds non-profit community-based agencies to provide services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness throughout King County.
Services that the program funds include homeless prevention, emergency shelters, temporary housing (also known as "transitional housing") and permanent housing connected to support services (also known as "permanent supportive housing").
Together with public and private partners, and especially with the Committee to End Homelessness in King County, we work to reduce and ultimately end homelessness in our community. King County does not directly manage housing or homeless services and cannot direct individuals to specific services or shelters.
