Services

The Community Services Division provides a wide range of housing and services that seek to improve the lives of vulnerable children and at-risk youth, seniors and adults in order to help them to achieve healthier, more productive and self-sufficient lives in their communities. We also work to strengthen communities by building or repairing aging facilities in lower-income areas to improve the quality of life.

Housing and Community Development includes a number of programs that help to prevent or reduce homelessness; build or repair housing and community facilities, including special needs and supportive housing for low and moderate-income households and neighborhoods; basic needs assistance; affordable housing development; first-time homebuyers programs; and other programs. Work Training Program offers job training and education for at-risk youth and low-income adults. Services include in-school and out of school supports, GED preparation, on-the-job training, pre-employment and job search training, dislocated worker retraining, counseling and referral. Learn more.

Veterans and Community Services helps older adults, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and youth who are involved in or at risk of involvement in the justice system. We also assist veterans, military personnel, and their families with a range of services including emergency assistance, counseling, housing, vocational and employment training, and other supports. Learn more.

Veterans and Human Services Levy, approved by the King County voters in November 2005, created a dedicated, six-year fund source to support housing and human services to assist veterans, military personnel and their families as well as other individuals and families in need countywide. A Service Improvement Plan was developed to identify target populations for our efforts and describes the new or enhanced programs and services to be funded with levy proceeds. Learn more.
