Notice of Boating Hazard Cedar River
Dangerous conditions for boaters were created when a landslide blocked the Cedar River on February 28, 2001 due to the Nisqually earthquake. The hazardous area is located between the Elliott Bridge and the Maplewood Golf Course.

All of the Cedar River's flow has been rerouted into a nearby, pre-existing, smaller side channel. This photo shows the side channel which is actively eroding with the full flow of the river, and several large trees that have fallen in.
The fallen trees completely span the side channel. More trees are likely to fall in as erosion of the river bank continues. Do not attempt to navigate through this area.
