Dockton Forest Mountain Bike Trail Proposal


In March 2015, the Vashon Mountain Bike Association submitted a proposal to build mountain bike trails within an existing multi-use trail network in a portion of Dockton Forest through the King County Parks Community Partnership & Grants Program.  Community meetings are scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on December 3 at Vashon High School and December 10 at Mc Murray Middle School.

King County Open Space Plan - 2016 Update

The 2016 King County Open Space Plan: Parks, Trails, and Natural Areas is an update to the 2010 plan. This plan serves as a strategic plan guiding King County Parks and establishes the policy framework for operating and capital funding priorities. Comments will be accepted until December 15, 2015 at 4:30 pm.

Levy Citizen Oversight Board Meeting Agendas
The Levy Citizen Oversight Board meets yearly to review levy funding allocations of King County Parks and recreation. This year's meetings are proposed to take place Thursday, October 29, Thursday, November 5, Thursday, November 12 and if needed an optional meeting on Thursday , November 19.

Taylor Mountain

Funded in part by a grant from the state’s Non-Highway and Off-Road Vehicle Activities program, this project will construct a parking lot that accommodates 30 vehicles and 25 horse trailers, as well as install trailhead amenities including a vault toilet, kiosk and hitching posts. This project also improves backcountry trails in the northeast area of the forest.

The construction for the parking lot expansion is expected to commence in October 2015. The trail improvements are complete.
