The Cedar River reach between the Elliott Bridge and the Maplewood Golf Course was the site of a major landslide in 2001 due to the Nisqually Earthquake. Erosion of the river bank and new wood recruitment is ongoing in this reach. Gravel bars may shift position each flood season which can cause portage routes to change from year to year.

Please scout this section of river from the shore to learn current channel conditions before planning a float through the area.
