Vashon-Maury Island Groundwater Monitoring

Vashon-Maury Island Groundwater Monitoring

Vashon-Maury Island ground and surface waters provide all of the water needed for residential, commercial and agricultural needs. Water quality on Vashon-Maury Island is generally excellent. All drinking water sources on the island (springs, surface water, and groundwater) are supplied by local precipitation.

On-going water resource monitoring on Vashon-Maury Island is currently being done with the support of the Groundwater Protection Committee and their sustainability indicators.

Vashon-Maury Island Water Resources - A Retrospective of Contributions & Highlights
This report summarizes precipitation, stream flow and groundwater monitoring results and activities on the Island since the 1980‘s. In addition, a section is dedicated to summarizing key challenges in moving forward with maintaining the water resources on the Island.

The Water Resources Evaluation (WRE) was a project designed to describe and assess the water resources of the island from 2004-2010. This project provided a better understanding of how different activities can adversely affect the island's water quality and quantity and led to an updated, more accurate water supply budget for the island.
