King County and partners have teamed up to create a community farm project on one acre of the South Plant treatment facility.

This project was designed and permitted to benefit the wastewater utility and the public by:

  • Demonstrating the use of GroCo compost made with Loop biosolids and increasing public understanding of the benefits of recycling carbon and nutrients.
  • Highlighting the use of recycled water on urban agriculture projects.
  • Providing community education opportunities to expand knowledge of soil, food, and agriculture.
  • Showing the opportunities and benefits of land use resource sharing, recycling, and conservation.
