Lake Sammamish kokanee returns video

Fall 2010

The Lake Sammamish kokanee video describes the community-based effort to recover the native population of kokanee salmon that depend on the lake and its tributaries to live. In this video, community leaders, elected officials, and agency staff offer their views on the collaborative effort needed to rebuild our native kokanee population. The video also highlights the first ever successful attempt, in fall 2009 and winter 2010, to raise and release Lake Sammamish kokanee as part of our new emergency hatchery program. At the end of the video there is contact information for those who are interested in becoming part of the rewarding effort to save this unique, cherished part of our Pacific Northwest natural heritage.
