The King County Sheriff’s Office handles firearms dealer licenses for firearms businesses located in unincorporated King County, and the cities of Beaux Arts, Burien, Covington, Kenmore, Maple Valley, Newcastle, North Bend, Sammamish, SeaTac, Shoreline, Skykomish, and Woodinville.

If you are applying for your first dealer’s license, there is a 30-day wait before the license is issued.

What You’ll Need

  • Federal Firearms License
  • State Business License
  • Your picture ID and (if renewing)
  • Your current dealer’s license.

Fees

The $125 fee may be paid by cash, a personal check, or money order. Personal checks or money orders should be made payable to the Washington State Treasurer. Please note that we do not accept second party checks.

Personal Checks must be:

  1. Preprinted, listing name, address, and phone number.
  2. Verified by two (2) pieces of identification. One of these must be a Washington State Driver’s License or I.D. card with a photograph or a major credit card. The customer’s I.D and the information on the personal check must match.
