Teenager Dies in Crash

A 16 year-old boy died today (June 19th) in a two car crash in eastern King County near Duvall.

The accident occurred about 11:15 AM in the 29500 block of NE Big Rock Road. A 1989 Honda Civic, driven by the 16 year-old, was eastbound on the two lane road when he lost control and skidded sideways. He was broadsided on the passenger side by a 2002 Jeep Cherokee headed westbound. The Jeep was driven by a 20 year-old woman.

The Honda driver was taken to Harborview by ambulance, and he died shortly after 1:00 PM. The woman went to Evergreen Hospital and the extent of her injuries are unknown at this time, but are not life threatening.

The roadway was wet at the time of the crash and speed on the part of the Honda driver is thought to be a contributing factor.

NE Big Rock Road was closed in both directions until about 4:00 PM.

The investigation will continue.
