Aug. 18, 2009 Sheriff's Office Releases video of Weekend Skyway ShootingSheriff's Office Releases video of Weekend Skyway Shooting
Detectives released surveillance video today of a shooting that occurred early last Saturday morning in a 7-11 parking lot in Skyway.
The victim, a 27 year-old Seattle man, remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center. He was shot several times outside the store by an unknown assailant, who immediately fled the scene.
The incident occurred in the parking lot of the 7-11 at 12848 Martin Luther King Way about 1:20 AM August 15th. The suspect walked up to the victim and words were exchanged briefly. Then the suspect pulled out a pistol and fired numerous rounds, several of which struck the victim.
Reportedly, victim, suspect and others were at a bar across the street prior to the shooting, the Best Damn Sports Bar. However it is unknown if anything occurred at the bar to precipitate the incident, and detectives do not believe the two knew each other previously.
A surveillance camera inside the store shows the suspect, a black male in his 20’s or 30’s, milling about in the parking lot. He can also be seen peering into the store just before the shooting. The victim is then shot several times and is seen running into the store, clutching his chest before collapsing on the floor.
There were numerous people in the store, in the parking lot, and at the bar, most of whom have not been contacted or identified by detectives. They are asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (206) 296-3311 (24 hours).
