Nov. 10, 2008 Update on Plans for Recovery of Green River VictimsTwo dead after car goes into river
River flows have dropped dramatically since Sunday morning allowing for a more aggressive recovery effort today and tomorrow.
Therefore, the Sheriff's Office is planning to try to locate the car in the river today. (The car may have been moved by the fast-flowing river over the weekend.)
The tentative plan is to try remove the car from the river sometime tomorrow.
Contrary to some reports, the Army Corp of Engineers is not controlling the water flows at Howard Hanson Dam to facilitate the recovery efforts. According to the Corp, to do so would run the risk of serious flooding upstream from the dam.
