A homeowner sent an appreciative email to CID Fire Investigator Tom Devine thanking him for his support and knowledge during a recent investigation of an accidental fire. “Working with people like you restores my faith in humanity.”
The president of a local neighborhood community club sent a letter to the Precinct 3 Commander expressing appreciation for Deputy Nishimura's efforts during the past year to "improve safety in our neighborhood". The letter states that, "living in a rural area like ours is a much more enjoyable experience when the residents personally know, understand, and frequently interact with their local law enforcement officials (at times not involving flashing lights!)"
The Communications Center received a letter of appreciation from the Valley Communications Center Employee Association. They appreciated Manny Apostol’s enthusiasm and support for a benefit fund/auction they were having. They relayed that “His cooperative nature and high level of energy sparked a level of appreciation with our employees that truly strengthen the bond and teamwork between our agencies.
Lynnwood Police Department wishes to thank Jason Houck and Kenneth O’Neal for their assistance in locating a burglary suspect who had escaped police custody.
The Southeast Precinct Commander received a call from a resident thanking the above mentioned officers for their quick response to a 911 prowler call placed by the homeowner’s wife. She was home alone with her children and thought she heard someone on their roof. Their quick response, thoroughness in checking the outside area and residence, and their genuine “caring” attitude meant a great deal to the entire family.
The Network Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse Organization sent a note to Crystal Evans and the entire Civil Unit thanking them for the pleasant and respectful service they received when calling the unit to get an order of protection.
One of the First Session Cadets from the Puget Sound Skills Center Fire Services sent a letter to CID Fire Investigators Gerry Kenny and Tom Devine, thanking them for taking the time to speak at their classes. The information they shared with the cadets helped to enhance their knowledge on fire investigation. Their presentation also included photographs, which showed first hand what the fire investigators witness at fire scenes.
A very appreciative citizen wrote in regarding the theft of his property and the positive way things were handled by the Sheriff’s Office. He wrote that Deputy Shears was “very helpful, concerned and professional, all the things we want from our local Police Department.” He said of Detective Allen that he is “a great asset to our community.”
A Skyway resident sent a very glowing e-mail to the Sheriff commending Marty Hodge of his engagement in the community and for being a “skilled professional, a dedicated crime fighter, a person of high integrity and someone who does a very dangerous job to keep us safe.”
A couple visiting from out of state wrote to commend Deputy Brain Barnes and Deputy Chris Caven for the outstanding service given to them when they were assaulted on a bus traveling from the airport to downtown. They said that both of the deputies were exceptionally kind to them and treated them with dignity and respect. They were also impressed with how quickly the assaulter was picked up.
The Sheriff has received a glowing letter of appreciation from the Seattle Police Department for the support the King County Sheriff’s Department and especially Sergeant Darrin Jenks have given regarding helping those involved in duty related deadly force incidents.
Their comments included “Sergeant Jenks exhibits calm professionalism, which brings immediate comfort to those in need. He is a credit to your organization. He exemplifies the ‘can-do’ spirit and enthusiasm essential in forwarding the mission of the King County Sheriff’s Office.”
The Northshore Fire Department wrote to thank and commend Deputy Flohr and Deputy Chivington for their quick response to an unconscious and unresponsive individual. Their quick evaluation and CPR saved this individuals life and he is now doing well recovering from this incident.
Deputies Dickson and Patterson have repeatedly gone the extra mile to serve the Vashon Island community. They recently participated in a DUI prevention event at the Vashon High School which was very well received by the students. They are representing the King County Sheriff’s Office well, demonstrating our core values and providing the service that the community expects from their public servants.
The Southwest Precinct Major received a thank you note from the Cambodian New Year's Festival Committee, thanking Community Service Officers Peter Truong & Vary Jackson, as well as Deputies Rainsey Lim, Jeff Hancock and Mark Brown for the extra patrol they provided during a recent event. The event organizers said that, "the officers helped to make the festival a fun and safe event to attend".
The Southeast Precinct Commander received a very positive phone call from a long time acquaintance. This gentleman’s grandson had gotten into some “drug problems” and made some bad choices. Deputy Zydek was referred to as being a “stellar deputy” for the help that he provided to the entire family. Voluminous praise was given for his performance in handling their situation.
Chief Cummings received a phone call from someone from the Civil Rights Commission thanking us for selecting Captain Baxter as our representative. She stated that “He came right in and immediately got involved and engaged. He was a great asset to have in the meeting and they are very glad to have him.”
Sheriff Rahr received a letter from the Director of the Chaplain Academy thanking Deputy Neil Woodruff for teaching the Crime Scene Protocols class. He said Neil “Came in with a great heart and great attitude.” They also think he is a good fit for their group and hope he will return to teach again.
The Washington State Patrol would like to extend their sincere thanks for the outstanding assistance and service provided by Examiners Mahar and Anderson during a recent investigation in which they are working. They appreciate our positive working relationship and look forward to working with us in the future.
The Wenatchee Chief of Police wrote to thank all of the above mentioned officers for assisting the City of Wenatchee with the 2009 Apple Blossom Festival. They said you were all professional and a great help in making the Apple Blossom 2009 a safe and successful event.
A citizen wrote to thank Deputy Eric White for issuing her a traffic ticket. She said he was professional in doing his job. She also said she is very aware of her driving now and that is a good and safe thing.
A citizen emailed Detective Thiry to say “thank you” for his grace, tact and kindness when serving her with divorce papers. She went on to say that while he wasn’t delivering “happy news”, the manner in which he did his “job” made it just a little easier.
An attorney recently wrote to commend Detective Mark Aratani for assisting one of her clients during the serving of an Order for Protection against her husband. He stayed with her while she gathered her personal belongings in order for her to feel safe. They are both grateful for the professionalism, kindness and respect he showed her.
An email was received from a citizen to thank Deputy Skaar for his considerate and pleasant manner when he responded to a DV protection order violation. She was very impressed and mentioned that he made her feel comfortable and safe.
Major Graddon received a very nice letter from the Assistant Principal of the Chinook Middle School. She wanted to say that SRO Davy has done an outstanding job of relating to their students and parents. She has been patient and kind in her dealing with students and their families and works hard to develop a good relationship with them.
A letter was sent in from a resident of Shoreline commending Deputy Heath for personally responding to a minor issue they were having. They were hoping to talk to someone on the phone but he took the time to come to their home twice to provide them with helpful information.
The Fife Police Department wrote to Thank Deputies Potter, O’Neal, Houck and Pugh for their assistance with a recent narcotics investigation. They also stated how impressed they were with our deputies and how professional and courteous each one was.
A resident of Shoreline recently wrote to personally commend Detective Coblantz for his “outstanding effort” and to thank him for his “steadfast determination, hard work and professionalism” in helping them to deal with a difficult burglary of their home.
The Kitsap County Sheriff sent in a letter thanking Captain Strathy for assisting his agency in completing an assessment center testing for the rank of Sergeant.
The Sheriff received a letter from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office expressing their gratitude to Captain Johanknecht and Deputy Linde for presenting an informative presentation on the valuable lessons learned during an ice cave rescue operation. Their willingness to work together in the spirit of inter-agency cooperation is sincerely appreciated.
Operations Manager Jean Best received a letter from the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials-International extending their appreciation for LouAnn's participation in the Occupational Analysis Workshop. The association said, "we are truly grateful for LouAnn's important contributions to the workshop, but most importantly for (her) dedication to public safety communications".
A ctizen called to express appreciation for the way Communications Specialist Brandy Burns handled her emergency call. The citizen believed she heard a door slam and thought someone might be in her house. Brandy was able to help the caller with her fears until officers arrived. Although the officers did not discover what caused the noise, the citizen said that she was considerably calmer after her contact with Brandy.
The Sheriff received a very nice letter from a citizen expressing his thanks to Deputy Gaiser for providing him with transportation to the airport after he had exhausted all other means to get there. He said the deputy was courteous and understanding and he will be forever grateful.
The Port of Seattle Police Department wrote to extend their gratitude to Sergeant Tucker for his invaluable assistance during their recent assessment process for the position of POSPD Detective. They said he consistently demonstrated professionalism, dedication and expertise.
Major Crimes Sergeant D.B. Gates received a commendation from King County Prosecutor Jeff Baird regarding a homicide case in which Detective Mike Mellis was the lead investigator. Despite many hurdles including uncooperative witnesses, a lack of physical evidence, and an uncrecovered murder weapon, Detective Mellis acquired enough evidence for the judge to convict the suspect of 1st degree murder. The suspect confessed to the crime at sentencing. Detective Mellis's perserverance, and dedication to public safety, helped bring a guilty man to justice.
We received a letter from a detective with Seattle PD thanking Deputy Didway for his professionalism and thoughtful investigation of his incident. He felt that his behavior generated a very positive image for our department and gave their neighborhood confidence that the local officers are looking out for them.
A deputy with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office wrote to thank Deputies Decker, Barton and O’Neal for their assistance on a SAR Mission. Without your help they would not have been able to meet their assignments.
