Sergeant Dave Rainey

I was born and raised in Southern California, in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. I was always interested in a career in public safety, which led me to law enforcement.

I got my start in 1989 with the Los Angeles Police Department. I enjoyed working for a large agency where there are many more opportunities to work different assignments. While there I worked Patrol, Traffic and Crime Scene Investigation.

In 1996, I moved my family to the Seattle area and hired on with a south King County agency. After a while, though, I began to miss working for a larger agency. In 1998, I came over to KCSO as a lateral deputy. During my time here I’ve worked as both a patrol deputy and a detective. I’ve been both an FTO and MPO and have trained many new student deputies. It was satisfying to train them and then see them years later--knowing I had a small part in their successful careers. I like contributing to a better future for the King County Sheriff's Office. Today, I am a Sergeant in the contract city of Shoreline.
