Detective Kelly Park
Early on in life, I knew that I wanted to serve the community. I just didn't quite know how I wanted to do that. I grew up in the South and moved to Seattle in 1998. I started my career in law enforcement as a juvenile corrections officer. While working full-time, I was also a full-time student at the University of Washington where I graduated in 2000 with a BA, plus I was a full-time internationally ranked athlete and Olympic Hopeful. I went from working with in-custody youth to working with juvenile offenders in the community as a Parole Officer. After a few years, I made the move to King County Sheriff's Office because I wanted to have a more proactive role with the community. I chose King County Sheriff's Office because it is a big department with many opportunities for movement and advancement. The biggest influences though came from my best friend, as well as from her brother-in-law, who were both deputies already. I started my career policing the north end of the County. Later, I contracted with the City of Shoreline where I worked patrol on day, swing and graveyard shifts. I also trained new recruit deputies as a Field Training Officer (FTO). Then I worked as a School Resource Officer (SRO) for the contract City of Woodinville. Now I am a Detective working criminal investigations for East Precinct North out of the City of Woodinville. This has given me the opportunity to work more challenging investigations, but I still enjoy working patrol whenever possible -- because it is the backbone of this and any department. In my time off I enjoy hanging out with my husband and our two children.
