Region 6 receives funds to address local terrorism planning, mitigation, response and recovery issues through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office via Washington State. An element of this grant funding is dedicated to the training and exercising of local responders. Cascadia Rising Earthquake Exercise - June 2016cascadiarising_banner1

A magnitude 8.0 - 9.0 Cascadia subduction zone earthquake and tsunami will have catastrophic impacts to our region. So, planning is underway for a four-day, multi-state, multi-agency earthquake exercise to test a whole community approach to complex disaster operations.

Our ability to conduct successful life-saving and life-sustaining response operations will hinge on effective coordination and integration of governments at all levels – cities, counties, state agencies, federal officials, the military, tribal nations – as well as non-government organizations and the private sector. Learn more about the scope of this exercise and ways to participate.
