Two for one

King County Animal Care and Control's special two-for-one feline adoption promotion

King County Animal Care and Control is launching a new "Double the Love" promotion aimed at placing more of its adoptable cats and kittens into homes during the month of November. King County Animal Care and Control (KCACC) has hundreds of felines available for adoption at their Kent and Bellevue shelters and through their foster home network.

The "Double the Love" offer is good for anyone who adopts two cats or two kittens together on the same day. King County Animal Care and Control will only charge the adopter $40, which is a $40 savings for adopting two kittens and a $10 savings when adopting two adult cats. In comparison, three private animal organizations charge over $200 for adopting two kittens and over $100 for adopting two adult cats on the same day.

Animal Care and Control believes the "Double the Love" adoptions are purr-fect for the cats and their new family. Two cats, especially from the same litter or who already lived together in their previous home, can be company for each other which is helpful when the adopter is not home during the day. Cats do not require as much living space as dogs and are capable of being trained. Two cats can bring more love into one's life too.

"During these uncertain economic times, adopting two cats is a valuable investment. Cats provide a source of unconditional love, loyalty and entertainment for the entire family," said King County Animal Care and Control Acting Manager Wendy Keller.

KCACC hopes that this promotion will encourage the public to adopt from a shelter, especially cats, before the holidays. "The public can be a hero to King County and a true lifesaver to the animals they take home with them," adds Keller.

The adoption fees include the spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, pet license (if within the KCACC service area), Hill's Science Diet® starter food, pet care information and certificate for a free veterinary exam. Microchip identification is an additional $25.00.

Studies show that having a pet (or two) can lower blood pressure, decrease stress, provide exercise and improve self-esteem.
