Michael donates to help KCACC animals

Michael Poston looked forward to his birthday like any soon-to-be 8-year old, but he had very specific plans in mind. Not just any regular birthday party, but a fund-raiser to help abandoned and abused animals in King County.

Michael and "best friend" Parker, who joined two other rescue cats in the family and became a fast friend to all. "We are blessed to have him," says Michael's mother Wendy.

Last September, Michael and his family adopted Parker, one very lucky cocker spaniel, from King County Animal Care and Control's Kent Shelter. After that experience, Michael wanted to do something to help other abandoned pets, and thus his birthday idea was born.

Michael and 23 of his friends and classmates from St. Francis of Assisi in Burien enjoyed a pirate-themed outdoor gathering at the Jack Block Park in West Seattle where they held a treasure hunt and partook of the customary birthday cake. But rather than accept the routine birthday gifts, he asked his guests if they would instead give money to the King County Animal Care and Control program to help the animals. Michael and his parents very proudly presented Al Dams, Manager of KCACC, contributions totaling $307.00!! THANK YOU Michael and friends.
