Annual Super Pet Adopt-a-thon to be held June 30: 100s of dogs and cats available at King County Kent Shelter

If you are longing for the companionship of a pet, you will be able to choose the pick of a gigantic litter June 30 at the region’s 2nd Annual Super Pet Adopt-a-thon, hosted by King County. This particular litter is made up of hundreds of dogs, cats, reptiles, and other small animals of all ages, sizes and breeds – all ready to head home with a new family of their very own.

If you are longing for the companionship of a pet, you will be able to choose the pick of a gigantic litter June 30 at the region’s 2nd Annual Super Pet Adopt-a-thon, hosted by King County. This particular litter is made up of hundreds of dogs, cats, reptiles, and other small animals of all ages, sizes and breeds – all ready to head home with a new family of their very own.

Sixteen animal shelters and rescue groups from around the state will bring their adoptable pets to King County’s Kent Animal Shelter. There will also be dog trainers, animal behavior experts, groomers, retailers and other animal related organizations on site.

“We are happy to host such a great way to help deal with the challenge of pet overpopulation that is facing counties and animal advocacy organizations around the state,” said King County Executive Ron Sims. “This event helps King County and all of the participating agencies and groups share resources to accomplish our shared main goal: connecting animals with people who will love them forever.”

The Super Pet Adopt-a-thon will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 at the King County Kent Animal Shelter, 21615- 64th Ave. S, Kent

King County Animal Care and Control encourages responsible pet ownership and since 1972 has provided animal control services to residents of unincorporated King County and all cities except Seattle, Renton, Des Moines, Normandy Park, Milton, and Medina. King County Animal Services operates animal shelters in Kent and Bellevue from which it offers animal adoption, pet licensing, shelter for lost pets, and help in locating lost pets. In 2006, King County’s Super Pet Adopt-a-thon found loving new homes for 197 animals in addition to the thousands that are adopted and rescued from the Shelter every year.
