The Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project will perform the surgeries in the medical facility at the King County Animal Services Shelter in Kent during a period when the space would otherwise not be used. The surgeries will take place: Saturday, October 7th Check in begins at 8:00 am King County Animal Shelter 21615 - 64th South (Kent) $10.00 male cat neuters for the first 100 Cats to check in The non-profit Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project works to reduce the number of feral and unwanted cats in the Puget Sound region by providing free spay and neuter services for feral/free roaming cats and low/cost spay neuter to owned cats that need access to surgery. Each year, shelters throughout Washington take in more cats and kittens then they are able to find homes for. A 2005 survey by the Federation of Washington State Animal Care Control Agencies found that 85,565 cats and kittens entered shelters as owner surrenders or strays last year. Spaying and neutering helps prevent overpopulation and saves animal lives and tax dollars. During the Sexless in Seattle event, pet owners will also be able to buy rabies vaccine for $5.00, feline distemper/respiratory vaccine for $5.00, and receive a free microchip for their pet with every new King County license purchased.
