King County Animal Care and Control

To reduce the number of animals in our shelters who will need to be relocated away from the Kent shelter in the Green River Valley due to increased flood risk this fall and winter, King County Animal Care and Control will no longer accept owner-surendered animals at either shelter location.  Additionally, to encourage adoption of animals in our shelters, adoption fees have been waived for all animals. You can now adopt a pet from King County for only the cost of the pet license.

Volunteer to help homeless animals

kittens Volunteer with King County Animal Care and Control by walking dogs, cuddling cats, or open your heart and your home and become a foster parent to cats and kittens who need to get well or get bigger before they can go out for adoption. Sick animals recover faster in a stress-free environment. Your home is the perfect place for them to get one-on-one attention and the love they need to grow or get well. You can also donate needed items or make a contribution that will bring animals comfort and wellness.

If you're interested in helping us at the shelter or fostering animals, send an email to dee.cordell@kingcounty.gov or complete the Volunteer Application.
