If you enjoy hiking through lush forests, mountain biking on great single track trails or riding your horse on a mountaintop ridge, come explore King County Parks' 180 miles of backcountry trails!

Located in more than 25 parks, working forests, and natural areas throughout urban and rural King County, King County Parks' backcountry system offers trails with year-round accessbility for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Great for leisurely day hikes, our trails are appropriate for all skill levels, from outings withs the kids to trails for advanced mountain bikers. Each trail offers a unique opportunity to walk, run or ride through the quiet beauty of our region’s natural heritage.

King County Parks works diligently to provide sustainable trails that are accessible year-round. Dedicated volunteers from our partner organizations help with trail maintenance and improvements. You can help too - check out our volunteer opportunities!
