About the Park

Dockton Forest, Dockton Natural Area, Dockton Park, and Maury Island Natural Area are 470 acres of contiguous properties with unique ecological features on Maury Island. All of the properties are connected by a network of 12 miles of soft-surface multi-use trails, including three miles dedicated for mountain bikes.

Dockton Forest is 86 acres of working forestland. The Dockton Natural Area is a 40-acre protected upland forest. Dockton Park is on the two-acre saltwater shoreline of Quartermaster Harbor on the northwest side of Maury Island with a public boat launch, short-term moorage, and picnic play area. Lastly, Maury Island Natural Area is on the southeast side of Maury Island, was the site of a sand and gravel mine but is now a 275-acre park with a Madrona forest and the longest undeveloped stretch of Puget Sound shoreline in King County.

Construction notice

Dockton Park and Dockton Forest are both undergoing construction, which affects different areas of the forest, park, parking lots, and marina.

Dockton Forest - Mountain Bike Trails

Construction started in April 2021 on six new mountain bike trails. In the current phase, Vashon Mountain Bike Association (VMBA) will build three advanced lines with jumps and other features, a dual slalom trail, a beginner trail, and a pump track.

Trail construction is expected to last into June. Dockton Forest visitors aren't likely to be impacted, as existing trails will be open during construction. VMBA will post signs on site to notify visitors of work sites and any potential construction impacts. Learn more about the partnership between King County Parks and VMBA.
