Island Center Forest - Deer Hunt 

King County has approved the Pilot Project for Island Center Forest authorizing a special recreational activity pursuant to K.C.C. 7.12.035, allowing the possession and discharge of certain weapons for the limited purpose of deer hunting in Island Center Forest from October 15, 2011 to October 31, 2011, and closure of the site to other uses during this period.

The County has taken into consideration a number of elements in developing and approving this trial project. Extensive public input and comments were received during Friends of Island Center Forest meetings, and the October 27, 2010 and September 20, 2011 public meetings on this issue. Public comments were submitted in a September-November 2010 comment period and in response to the September 2011 SEPA process.

Consultations have been made with the King County Offices of Risk Management, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff; and the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. The proposal is determined to be in compliance with state statutes and county codes. Safety has been addressed in numerous ways.
