Pacific Raceways 2011 Public MeetingPacific Raceways held its Annual Public Meeting on October 12, 2011 at Lakeview Elementary School in Auburn, Washington. The annual meeting is a condition of DDES Permit #A71-0-81, which was issued in 1984 to describe, define and limit the racing operations on the Pacific Raceways property. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss current and future operations and review compliance with the aforementioned Conditional Use Permit (CUP). Jason Fiorito, owner of Pacific Raceways, spoke about the 2011 racing season and his desire to propose an expansion to the raceway which would include commercial buildings. The public meeting was recorded by Green River Community College media staff. You can listen to the entire meeting (streaming windows media). The linked documents were submitted by citizens for the record. The first document has racing schedules and petitions (PDF 751KB) and the other contains letters (PDF 1.1MB) from some of the community members expressing their concerns about the noise level. In September and October 2010, the County retained a professional acoustician to perform noise measurements and evaluations in four locations around Pacific Raceways. The study documents ambient noise levels and, in some cases, compares ambient noise levels to noise levels when racing activity is taking place. The entire noise study is available clicking on the link to the right of this page. The Clearing/Grading Permit for the Drag Strip relocation at Pacific Raceways has been approved by DDES. Permit #L08CG002 (PDF 455KB) was submitted on January 8, 2008 and was issued on November 16, 2010. This permit is strictly for the relocation of the drag strip at Pacific Raceways and is active for one year. Legislation is pending at King County Council for the proposed expansion of the race track.
