A blackberry clearing permit helps property owners to select from a range of possible control methods in order to match the management requirements of each specific site, to maximize effective control, and to minimize negative environmental, economic and social impacts that could occur from removing blackberries.

A permit is not needed to clear less than 7,000 square feet of blackberries outside of critical areas in unincorporated King County.
The permit, restricted to blackberry clearing only, is free.
The application for a blackberry clearing permit simply requires the property owner to describe the proposed project and when the work will be performed. To apply, either:
The permit, along with a list of required best management practices (PDF*, 258KB), will be mailed within one business day.
A blackberry clearing permit is issued to the property owner free of charge and without square footage restrictions. New permits may be required to remove native vegetation, for which permit fees would be charged.
