Public review draft for 2012 King County Comprehensive Plan Update

The 2012 update will be the next significant revision to the King County Comprehensive Plan (KCCP), the guiding land use document for unincorporated King County.

The public review draft of the proposed 2012 amendments is available for viewing below, listed by section. For alternate formats, call 206-296-6600.

King County welcomes your comments. Comments will be accepted until December 23, 2011.

2012 update process and timeline

  • January - February 2011: Public Outreach. Gather input on issues to be addressed in the 2012 Update by making presentations to Unincorporated Area Councils (UAC) and Agriculture and Forestry Commissions.
  • March 1, 2011: Transmit the scope of work motion to the King County Council.
  • May 2011: The King County Council reviewed the scope of work motion and approved a list of topical areas to be covered in the 2012 King County Comprehensive Update.
  • January -November 2011: Manage the interdepartmental effort to develop Executive-recommended amendments to the King County Comprehensive Plan.

    Commence State Environmental Protection Act (SEPA) review for 2012 KCCP Update.

  • October 2011: Publish the Public Review Draft of the 2012 KCCP Update.
  • November 2011: Public Outreach. Conduct public meetings to discuss the Public Review Draft for the 2012 KCCP Update.
  • December 2011: Transmit the 2011 KCCP Docket Report to the King County Council. Comments on the draft update accepted until December 23, 2011.
  • March 1, 2012: Transmit the Executive-recommended 2012 KCCP Update to the King County Council.
  • March 2012: King County Council review begins with adoption expected in late 2012.
