Final approval of the 2009 amendmentsExecutive Sims transmitted his Executive Recommended 2009 Comprehensive Plan amendments to the King County Council on March 2, 2009 for their review and approval. Beginning in spring 2009, the King County Council Physical Environment Committee will review the Executive Recommended amendments. Final adoption of the amendments is expected later this year. Proposed update of the Shoreline Master ProgramThe proposed update of the Shoreline Master Program was not included in the March 2, 2009 transmittal of the Executive Recommended 2009 update of the King County Comprehensive Plan to the King County Council.
King County’s current Shoreline Plan was adopted in 1977 and has not been significantly altered since then. In 2007, we completed over two years of public process to develop an updated Shoreline Master Program. Further refinements and an additional round of public review were completed in 2008. The Shoreline work is now complete and ready to transmit for Council review. However, Executive staff has not had an opportunity to fully brief Council members about the Shoreline Master Program prior to this March 2nd transmittal of the Comprehensive Plan Update. After these briefings are completed, the Shoreline Master Program will be transmitted for King County Council consideration.
