DDES strategic plan The King County Executive transmitted the Department of Development and Environmental Services Strategic Plan to the King County Council on Monday, August 3, 2009. View the DDES strategic plan online in PDF* (265KB) or MS Word* (1MB) format. BackgroundOn July 18, 2008, the King County Performance and Accountability Act (Ord. 16202), was signed into law by the King County Executive. The primary purpose of the act was to create and implement a countywide performance and accountability system. The legislation requires the development of a countywide strategic plan by the end of 2009 (King County Code 2.10.060, PDF*, 1.6MB). On December 5, 2008, subsequent legislation (Ord. 16308) was enacted, establishing the Office of Strategic Planning and Performance Management. This legislation also required the County Executive to transmit DDES' strategic plan (PDF*, 265KB) to the council in advance of the countywide strategic plan and strategic plans for other county agencies. Public commentDue to the tight time frame for transmittal of the DDES strategic plan, public outreach to the general public was limited to posting a draft document on the DDES Web site and inviting public comment. Therefore, this document is considered a dynamic strategic plan and one that is likely to evolve over the next six to nine months. DDES welcomes continuing public comment on this strategic plan.
