General Information and Records Center

Free technical assistance is available as walk-ins with no appointment necessary. This is an opportunity to meet with Permitting review staff including drainage, zoning, critical areas, site development, building plans examiners, fire engineers, code enforcement, and permit technicians. As a first come, first serve service, customer wait time may vary widely depending on customer volumes.

Free assistance with permit records is available as walk-ins with no appointment necessary. Over the Counter Permits and Pre-Submittal Services 

Small, minor project proposals that qualify for the Over the Counter Permit (OTCP) process are reviewed. Intermediate project proposals that qualify for the Pre-Submittal Services (PSS) process are reviewed. As first come, first serve services, customer wait time may vary widely depending on customer volumes.

Permit Issuance 

Issuance of previously approved permit applications. As a first come, first serve service, customer wait time may vary widely depending on customer volumes.

Cashier and Reception Desk

The Cashier is available to accept payments, accept permit applications with payment that are eligible for drop-off, and provide notary services. The Reception Desk is available to assist with checking in for prescheduled meetings and accepting drop-off materials associated with pending permit applications.

 Permitting staff are available at the Vashon - Maury Island office every Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Services:

  • General information and helpful advice on permitting (land use, critical areas, etc.)
  • Property specific information and interpretation based on past history, if available
  • Intake of applications and fees that do not require a pre-application meeting
  • Site visits to assess specific issues and provide direction
  • Other King County services at this location
