BackgroundKing County and the City of Seattle are seeking proposals from interested taxicab driver groups for issuance of 15 dual (city and county) Wheelchair Accessible Taxicab (WAT) licenses. King County and the City of Seattle have determined there is a need for additional WAT service in areas served by City and County licensed taxicabs and there is a need for dual-licensed WAT for improved service response times for disabled customers. The taxicabs will be allowed to pick up passengers in Seattle, unincorporated King County, and cities located in King County that have signed an interlocal agreement with King County for taxicab regulation, including Auburn, Bellevue, Burien, Covington, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kenmore, Kent, Kirkland, Maple Valley, SeaTac, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, and Shoreline.
