FAQ - Suppliers

This section contains most frequently asked questions and answers about doing business with King County.

If you cannot find the answers to your questions within the FAQ item menu, please e-mail the webmaster at procurement.web@kingcounty.gov or contact Procurement & Contract Services at 206-263-9400 (TTY Relay: 711).

How can I find out what goods or services are currently being solicited by King County Government?

All bids currently being solicited are posted on our web site. To view, go to Solicitations and search "Open" solicitations for "Goods and Services".

Solicitations over $25,000 are advertised in the Seattle Times on Thursdays and you can request a copy be mailed to you by e-mailing your request to the webmaster at procurement.web@kingcounty.gov or contact Procurement & Contract Services at 206-263-9400 (TTY Relay: 711).

How can I obtain Bid results?

To determine the status of ITB's, RFP's and RFQ's after the due date, whether solicitations have been closed, cancelled or awarded; access Solicitations and search "All" solicitations for "Goods and Services".

Does the County buy what I sell?

We buy everything needed to run dozens of county agencies, including public safety agencies, general offices, courts, public health and welfare, maintenance and construction of buildings, roads, parks and playgrounds.

For assistance, contact the Buyer responsible for the listed supplies or services.

I would like to contact someone in Procurement.

If you sell supplies or general service, your first stop should be Procurement & Contract Services. Call Procurement's main number, 206-263-9400, or refer to the Staff listing, to find out which Buyer is responsible for your category of products. Then speak to the Buyer to arrange an appointment to discuss your products or services. Procurement's regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

We want to make your time as productive as possible. To help us do so, when you meet with the Buyer, be sure to bring your company's literature, reference, telephone contacts, names of people authorized to sign contracts on your company's behalf, and information on any contracts you have with the federal, state or other municipal governments.

May I inspect the Bids? How do I learn about Bid Results?

After Procurement awards any contract, all bids become a public record.

Due to the large number of bids, Procurement is unable to notify unsuccessful bidders of the bid results. To determine the status of ITB's, RFP's and RFQ's after the due date, whether solicitations have been closed, cancelled or awarded; access Solicitations and search "All" solicitations for "Goods and Services" or by contacting the buyer at least 24 hours after the bid opening date.

What is King County's Protest Procedure?

A protest is an Offeror's remedy for correcting a perceived error in the procurement process. See King County's established Procurement Protest and Appeal Procedures (64KB DOC). Regarding procurement with Federal Funds, see Pursuit of Protest (21KB DOC).
