FAQ - Contractors King County solicits Contractors for Public Work contracts for construction projects via Invitation to Bids, and as applicable, a Small Works (SW) Roster. Listed below are Frequently Asked Questions related to the processes for acquiring Contractor services. How can I find out what Construction bids are currently being solicited by King County Government? Bids currently being solicited are posted on our web site, go to Solicitations and search "Open" solicitations for "Construction".
How do I participate in the Small Works (SW) Roster? SWs are Construction projects valued at $200,000 or less and are not advertised in the newspaper. Usually five or more contractors from the Small Works Roster are invited to bid. Contractors are rotated on the list to ensure equal opportunity to bid. Trade specialties are based on the contractor's description of experience and availability on their application form. Refer to the SW Roster Disciplines (112KB DOC) for a listing of the specialties. To apply, access SW Roster Application (346KB DOC).
What are the Construction Standard Contract General Terms and Conditions? The County's current General Terms and Conditions for standard, advertised construction contracts, represent the contract boilerplate that will be used without alteration except for the County's selection of appropriate alternate language. Refer to Construction Standard Contract General Terms and Conditions (255KB PDF). Construction Standard Contract General Terms and Conditions do not apply to Roads, Work Order, or Small Works Roster construction contracts.
How do I learn about Bid Results? After Procurement awards any contract, all bids become a public record. Because of the number of bids and bidders, Procurement is unable to notify unsuccessful bidders of the bid results. To determine the status of Invitation to Bid's after the due date, whether solicitations have been closed, cancelled or awarded; access Solicitations and search "All" solicitations for "Construction".
