King County occasionally has need for work to be performed by service contractors, such as plumbers, fencing repairmen, HVAC repairmen, pool repairmen, equipment installations, etc. Contracts within this classification are usually for a specific scope of work for a King County department that requires the performance of repair and/or installation work.
These contracts are usually awarded on the three-quote basis, and requests are issued directly by the Buyer. A contractor will provide to the County, upon request, a written estimate or bid for the work. King County will issue a purchase order contract to the selected contractor, who may be required to supply an insurance certificate with adequate coverage for the work performed. Most work will have a brief timeframe for completion. The notification to contractors for this type of contract is usually short notice, and lower dollar value.
