Procurement is divided into service groups:
- Professional and Construction Services (Architectural and Engineering/ Construction). Manages the procurement of construction, architectural/engineering and other professional consultant services.
- Environmental Purchasing Program. Provides County personnel with information and technical assistance to identify and evaluate economical and effective recycled and environmentally preferable products.
- Equal Benefits. In April 2004, King County passed an ordinance stating that contractors doing business with the County with contracts in excess of $25,000 shall not discriminate when providing benefits to domestic partners. Known as the Equal Benefits Ordinance, contractors are required to complete a compliance worksheet in order to receive a contract from the County.
- Goods and Services (G&S). Manages the procurement of goods, supplies, equipment, materials and technical consultant services.
- Project Control Officer (PCO). Established by Executive Policy and Procedure CON 7-10-01; works with Construction Projects over $10 Million and Consultant (Professional and A&E) Contracts over $2 Million. The Project Control Officer (PCO) is also available to assist with other contracts regardless of value.
- Technical and Consulting Services. Manages the procurement of non-A&E consulting, including appraisals, studies, evaluations, and promotional campaigns, as well as technology oriented contracts such as software and systems analysis.
