Functional Code Number Classification
Policies, procedures and public rules are grouped according to the major function of King County government which they concern. Each subject is categorized using a functional three-letter code to make it easier to find documents by subject or function. The following list shows the county's functional classification breakdowns and corresponding three-letter subject codes.
ACO - ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATION (Policies/procedures relating to county organization, administration and delegation of authority.)
ART - ARTS MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to visual, performing, literary and media arts.)
ASM - ASSESSMENT MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to the assessment of real and personal property [not owned by the county], and assessment equalization and appeals.)
BUD - BUDGET MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to budget preparation, review and management.)
CON - CONTRACTING, PROCUREMENT AND SALE MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to the procurement, contracting and sale of materials and services.)
CPM - COMMUNITY PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to social and community service activities.)
DET - DETENTION MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to adult detention, release and associated services.)
ELE - ELECTION MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures pertaining to voter registration, the election process, and election results.)
FES - FACILITY, EQUIPMENT, AND SUPPLY MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to the inventory, use, maintenance, security and disposition of facilities, vehicles, equipment and supplies, and for facility construction and modification.)
FIN - FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to the collection, investment and disbursement of funds.)
INF - INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to the control, recording, processing, distribution, storage and retrieval of information.)
IRG - INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS (Policies/procedures relating to relationships of a general nature between King County and other governmental agencies.)
JDC - JUDICIAL MANAGEMENT - DISTRICT COURT (Policies/procedures relating to district court operations, specifically, traffic offense and warrant and misdemeanant probation related matters.)
JSC - JUDICIAL MANAGEMENT - SUPERIOR COURT (Policies/procedures relating to Judicial Administration operations of the Superior Court.)
JJS - JUVENILE JUSTICE SERVICES (Policies/procedures relating to youth services court, care and rehabilitation.)
LES - LEGISLATIVE MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures pertaining to the legislative process in King County.)

RPM - REAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT (Policies/procedures relating to real property owned by the county, including acquisition, lease, rental or sale, utility franchises, special use motor vehicle permits, and right-of-way construction.)
