Policies

Policies and procedures have application throughout all or most county departments. They are used by county agencies to inform other county agencies and staff of policy/procedures for the direction and management of county functions. Executive policies and procedures become effective 10 days after executive signature and remain in effect until they are superseded by another policy or repealed.

Contracting
Procurement, contracting, and sale of materials and services.

Court
District court operations, specifically, traffic offense and warrant, and misdemeanant probation related matters.

Facilities
Inventory, use, maintenance, security and disposition of facilities, vehicles, equipment and supplies, and for facility construction and modification.

Finance
Collection, investment, and disbursement of funds.

Human Resources
Personnel administration.

Information Management
Control, recording, processing, distribution, storage, and retrieval of information.

Law
Litigation and legal opinions.

Legislation
Legislative process in King County.

Property
Acquisition, lease, rental or sale, utility franchises, special use motor vehicle permits, and right-of-way construction.

Property Assessment
Policies/procedures relating to the assessment of real and personal property [not owned by the county], and assessment equalization and appeals.)

Public Safety
Law enforcement programs and operations and animal control enforcement programs and operations.

Utilities
Operation and maintenance of utilities and public transportation.
