On November 16, 2015, the King County council unanimously adopted a motion appointing Cheryle Broom interim director of the Office of Law Enforcement Oversight. Cheryle’s 30-plus years of experience and demonstrated expertise is in directing organizations that provide oversight of public agencies and programs, and achieve strategic goals. Among the positions Cheryle has held are: King County Auditor, First Deputy Inspector General for the New York State Metropolitan Transit Authority and Washington State Legislative Auditor for the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee. She has also facilitated community engagement programs. Throughout her career, Cheryle has promoted accountability, transparency and performance. Recently, Cheryle has served in various public service volunteer capacities, and as a trainer and technical consultant.
Cheryle holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington; is a certified Government Financial Manager and a certified Inspector General. In 2008 she was inducted as a fellow into the National Academy of Public Administration.
