Project summary

The work of this project involves the demolition and replacement of approximately 6,300 SF of existing concrete sidewalk on 4th Avenue and James Street in front of the King County Courthouse. Approximately 1715 SF of the 4th Avenue sidewalk also functions as a structural lid over interior building space below. The major objectives of the project are to address existing structural problems, improve the ADA accessibility of the Forth Avenue Entry, and improve the streetscape appearance. Associated work includes new curbing, inlaid granite tile, reconditioned tree pits and a replica of the original historic iron grillwork over the entry. The James Street work will include restoration and repainting of historic iron hand railings.
