King County Executive Ron Sims meets with residents at Unincorporated Area Councils Annual Forum

More than 100 county residents joined King County Executive Ron Sims at the Joint Annual Forum of the Unincorporated Area Councils held on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007 in West Seattle. The forum was co-hosted by the Vashon-Maury Island Community Council.

"I look forward to the annual forum and the opportunity to meet with the council presidents and local residents on the issues and concerns of our county's unincorporated areas," said Executive Sims. "The unincorporated area councils play a very important role in helping to improve information sharing between the county and the unincorporated areas, and the annual meeting offers an excellent opportunity to recognize the dedication and commitment of the individuals who serve on these councils, working to improve and strengthen their communities every day."

The purpose of the Executive's annual forum is to share information with the council members and residents of the unincorporated areas, such as transportation planning, budget deliberations and other work in progress. Each of the six county-recognized UACs offered presentations on 2006-07 accomplishments and the issues of greatest concern to their communities, facilitated by Vashon-Maury Island President Jim English. Also attending this year's forum were King County Sheriff Sue Rahr and King County Councilmember Dow Constantine.
