Census Information
On March 23, 2001 the U S Census Bureau released population counts from the 2000 Census that confirm Washington State and King County growth in recent years. In April 2000, the Census counted 1,737,034 persons in King County. Annual Growth Report
The Annual Growth Report (AGR) provides population and land development data for King County, its cities, and its unincorporated areas. The AGR, produced since 1983, has become one of King County's most widely used documents, presenting frequently requested information in an easily used format. In 1995, the GMPC and citizens throughout the County helped develop 45 indicators, which directly relate to the policies in our countywide plan. Our Benchmark Report reviews how we are doing on each indicator, giving us a broad-brush picture of our quality of life. In 1997, the Washington State legislature adopted the Buildable Lands amendment to the Growth Management Act, (RCW 36.70A.215). The amendment requires six Washington counties and their cities to determine the amount of land suitable for urban development, and evaluate its capacity for growth, based upon measurement of five years of actual development activity. King County and the other five counties must report to the State by September 1, 2002 and every five years thereafter. Affordable Housing Bulletin
The purpose of the Annual Affordable Housing Bulletin is to monitor the cost of home purchase and rental housing in King County, particularly in relationship to the income of the King County workforce.
