Program Manager Memo — Winter 2011
King County Accountable Business Transformation Implementation
On January 3, 2012, King County will flip the switch on the most significant technology improvement and the largest change in county’s business services in history by establishing a single business platform to operate as one government. This effort, known as the Accountable Business Transformation Program (ABT Program), will complete a major milestone on January 3 by uniting all county financial, human resource and payroll functions into an integrated system on a technology platform that can grow, evolve, and serve the County and its residents for many years. Key benefits also include costs savings over time through elimination of manual paper based processes, redundant data entry, transcription and reconciliation as well as a reduction of system maintenance and management costs.
At this point the ABT Program Team is working 24/7 on the final cutover activities and to ensure a quick response to resolve the problems that are typical with the implementation of these large-scale efforts. Training classes, problem solving labs and hotlines will be in place to assist County staff members to adjust to this massive business process change. We will be providing an update on the implementation in late January 2012.
