Instructions for New Applicants
Welcome! Thank you for considering a position with King County, a government dedicated to serving the people of King County, Washington. Here are the steps you can take to apply for our jobs:
| Step 1: Review our job listings |
Positions for which we are currently recruiting are listed here. Click on any of the job titles to view detailed information about the position. When you find a job that interests you, click the Apply link |
| Step 2: Create your account |
To apply online with King County, you will need to create a free governmentjobs.com account and select a username and password. Creating your account takes only a few minutes. After your account has been established, you can build an application that can be saved and used to apply for more than one job opening. Note: You must have access to e-mail to apply online, and you must have an e-mail address that is not shared by another applicant. If you do not have an e-mail address, you can establish an account through various free service providers. To make sure you receive e-mails from us, read the tips on this page to ensure our e-mails are not filtered into your "junk" or "bulk" folder. |
| Step 3: Complete the application |
It is important that your application show all your relevant education and experience. Build your application by typing it or by copying and pasting information from your resume into the appropriate sections of the application (work experience, education, licenses/certifications). Your application may be rejected as incomplete if you include relevant information only in an attached resume or pasted into the text resume section. |
| Step 4: Submit the application |
For your application to be submitted, you must click the "Confirm Application" button in step 4 (confirm the application) and click the "Accept" button in step 5 (certify and submit). When you receive a message thanking you for applying with King County, you will know that your application has been successfully received by us. |
| Step 5: Review the status of your application |
Once you have submitted your application, you can review its status by logging into your governmentjobs.com account and clicking the "Application Status" link near the top of the screen. You can also view and print your application through this link. |
