Medicare Savings Programs help Medicare recipients pay for all or part of their Medicare premiums. Eligibility is based on those who meet income and resource requirements.

Income and resource limits

- Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Program (QMB)
- Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary Program (SLMB)
- Qualified Individual(QI-1) Program

Resource requirements for cost-sharing programs
|
For any of the cost-sharing programs your resources (assets) must be under $6,600 for an individual and $9,910 for a couple.
- Cash
- Bank accounts
- Certificates of deposits
- Savings bonds
- Stocks
- Real property (except the home you live in)
- Recreational vehicle

Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) program
|
QMB pays your Part B Medicare premium, and the cost, if any, of your Part A premium. QMB also pays your Medicare co-payments and deductibles. To be eligible your income must be no more than:
- $931 per month for one person, or
- $1,251 per month for a couple
|
Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) and Qualified Individual(QI-1) Program: The Part B premium
|
Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB):
- $1,117 per month for one person, or
- $1,513 per month for a couple
Qualified Individual (QI-1) program:
- $1,257 per month for one person, or
- $1,703 per month for a couple

- Consent form (this allows Public Health staff to process and follow-up on your application)
- Proof of income
- Bank statements for everyone in household
- Citizen requirements (include U.S. citizens & lawfully admitted residents who meet the 5-year residency requirement and some non-citizens.)
