Clinic walk-in hours for teens

Teens walking in to a Public Health Center Special hours during which teens can receive services without an appointment are critical to serving adolescents. Walk-in hours can be extremely busy for clinical staff but are essential for serving this population. Hours should start after school and go into the early evening. This allows teens who are in school or who work after school to access services. For example, see current schedule of dates and times from our Teen Clinic website. Although the doors may shut at the closing time listed, providers continue to see all of the clients that have checked in. Clinic staff meet frequently and work as a team to develop a clinic flow strategy that works for them.

Teen friendly signs Use signs for teens that are fun and eye-catching. Teen hours should be on the same day and time each week. This consistency helps teens remember when teen services are available.

Once they become comfortable using your services, some teens may begin to make and keep appointments. Others continue to access services by walking in, even when they understand the wait is longer.
