Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Unidentified deceased maleThe King County Medical Examiner's Office is requesting the public's assistance in identifying a person recovered from the water near Foster Island in Seattle (part of the University of Washington Arboretum) on September 3, 2012. The date of death is estimated to be sometime in mid-to-late August 2012; the manner of death is suicide, caused by fresh water drowning. Efforts to identify the person have been unsuccessful to date, which is why the public is being called upon to assist in identification.

Additional information about the decedent:

  • young-to-middle aged white male, 5'10", 209 lbs., with black or brown hair and a possible receding hairline
  • no facial hair, no visible scars, and no tattoos
  • all teeth are present with the exception of the lower left first molar, and several teeth have fillings. He has a noticeable gap between his upper front teeth
  • at the time of recovery, he was wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt, black Merrell brand sneakers, and a black backpack

A sketch of the decedent is attached, produced by the Seattle Police Department. Given the decedent was in the water for a significant period of time before recovery, the sketch is intended to represent a likeness of the decedent and may not be an exact representation.

Anyone with information on the decedent is requested to call the King County Medical Examiner's Office, Investigations Division at 206-731-3232 ext. 1.
